The first teaching block was over and Week Seven Assessments had arrived! This was a chance for us to assess our students understanding and for our students to get some early feedback on how well they are doing.
Whilst all this is going on we arrange a workshop week for our students to introduce them to new and different skills, and ways of working. This year we looked at image making with collagraphs, (a technique new to most of our students). Using research images from their previous brief they created print blocks using tape, glue, string, sandpaper, card, foil etc, and then explored printmaking as a means of image making. The idea is to introduce skills in these workshops that can then be developed further in our specialist print studios by students as part of their individual creative practice throughout the course.
